Secret Lake
Pastel on Panel 7 x 5 x .25 Private Collection
Nestled in the Yosemite high country, this gem of a lake is overshadowed by spectacular granite cliffs. The fisherman pays dear for his catch; the lake can only be reached after several days of hard backpacking. The only way to get there is on your own two feet. The views, and the icy pure waters crowded with brown trout, are a suitable reward. Pastel on sanded archival board, this tiny piece was a challenge insofar as capturing the detail with only soft pastel. I used no pencil or paint. Private collection.
